Railings for your stairs
Six railing systems,
installed with the stair.
Glass keeps the light passing through the treads. Standoff, base shoe, spigot, post, cable or rod, installed by the same crew.
Standoff
Glass held off the stringer by stainless standoffs, so the panels float with the treads.
Base shoe
A continuous aluminum channel holds the glass with no posts at all.
Spigot
Small stainless clamps at the foot of each panel, light and open.
Post
Glass infill between metal posts, the classic choice for long runs.
Cable
Thin stainless cables between posts for an open, airy line.
Rod
Solid stainless rods, a firmer take on cable with the same lightness.

4 inches is our standard and the one we recommend: the tread reads as a solid block from every angle. Thinner treads are available when the design calls for them.

We measure the opening, the floor-to-floor height and the walls once the structure is ready, so every tread lands where it should.
Shop drawings
You, your builder or your architect approve the drawings of the stringer, the treads and the railing before anything is built.
Custom made
The steel is cut, welded and primer coated for its powder coat, and each tread is made to the drawings.
Installed by our crew
We set the stringer, fit the treads and install the railing, then leave the space clean.

How much does a floating staircase cost?
Every staircase is made to measure, so the price depends on the model, the number of steps, straight or with turns and landings, the wood of the treads and the railing. The estimate is free: we take the final measurements on site and send you a written quote with one price per item.
Which model should I choose?
It depends on where the steel goes. A wall on one side suits the Chicago lateral stringer; an open room suits a central spine like New York, Paris, Seattle or Tokyo; twin or double stringers (Oslo, San Diego) give wide stairs extra stability. See the seven models.
Do you make the steel, the treads and the railing?
Yes. One team takes the final measurements, prepares the shop drawings, builds the steel stringer, fits the wood treads and installs the railing, so nothing changes hands.
What finish does the steel get?
The stringers leave the shop primer-coated, a rust-resistant base ready for the powder-coated color you choose. Matte black is the most requested.
Which woods can I choose for the treads?
Red oak, walnut or maple, built as butcher block, horizontal laminate or engineered, with a smooth, saw mark or wire brushed finish. Our standard tread is 4 inches thick; 2 1/2, 3 and 3 1/2 inches are also available. See the treads; the estimator brings samples.
Do you work with my builder or architect?
All the time. We review the plans, take the final measurements once the structure is ready and send shop drawings for approval before anything is built.
Can you add a glass railing to the stairs?
Yes: standoff, base shoe, spigot, post, cable or rod systems, with a wood or metal cap if you want one. See our glass railings.
