Frameless Glass Stair and Landing Railing
This Lake Worth home had a painted picket railing running up the stair and around the second floor landing, which closed off the entry and blocked the light coming from the tall windows above the foyer.
We replaced it with frameless tempered glass. Both stair runs use a standoff mounted system, with each panel fixed to the side of the stringer on square matte black standoffs, so the new treads read as a clean line from the room below. Along the landing the glass sits in a base shoe at the floor and runs continuously around the stair opening.
A matte black top rail follows the glass from the first tread to the end of the landing, and all hardware was specified in matte black to match the window frames and the light fixtures already in the house. The layout keeps the same run and the same landing as the original railing, only without the visual barrier.
