Frameless Low Iron Glass Wine Enclosure
This Palm Beach Gardens home had a recessed alcove with a stacked stone back wall, set aside for the wine collection. The goal was to close it in with glass so the racks, the stone and the lighting stay on display from the living area, with nothing heavier than a thin perimeter line around the glass.
ACG Glass & Metals built a three sided frameless enclosure in 1/2 inch low iron monolithic tempered glass. Low iron glass removes the green tint of standard clear glass, so the stone and the bottles read in their true color even through the thick panels. The glass is held in an architectural U-channel at the floor, the ceiling and the walls.
The front opens with a pair of frameless swing doors on commercial hydraulic soft close hinges with a 90 degree hold open, so both doors can stay open while bottles go in and out.
