What an impact storefront is
Aluminum framing, laminated impact glass, one approved assembly
A storefront is the glazed ground floor of a commercial building: the retail front, the restaurant elevation, the office lobby. An impact storefront is that same system built to stay in its opening when debris hits it, so the building meets code without panels going up before every storm.

Aldora FS300
Maximum View storefront
The wide sightline system we used for Orlebar Brown at Bal Harbour Shops, glazed with Starphire low iron laminated impact so the glass reads clear instead of green. Paired there with the Aldora Summit inswing storefront door.
Trulite 3100
The retail workhorse
Our most used aluminum storefront. Bronze at Plum Market, Bone White at both Mint Eco Car Wash locations, with medium stile doors and a 10 inch bottom rail.
ES Windows 8000 and 9000
Heavier commercial framing
Used on the office elevation at E Hallandale Beach Blvd with an AAMA 2605 gray finish, which is the durable end of architectural coatings.
Stanley Dura-Storm 3000
Impact rated automatic sliders
Level D automatic sliding entrances, installed at Plum Market alongside the storefront package so the entrance is accessible and still rated.
Code and approvals
Every assembly ships with its approval number
South Florida sits inside the wind borne debris region, so glazed openings have to be protected. There are two accepted routes, and we hand either one to the permit set with the drawing it belongs to, so the plan reviewer sees the number and the detail together.
Florida Product Approval
The statewide route. Each system carries an FL number tied to the tested configuration, its sizes and its design pressures.
Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance
Tested to the TAS 201, 202 and 203 protocols. Accepted anywhere in Florida, which makes it the safer specification when a job might move.
HVHZ is Miami-Dade and Broward
Those two counties enforce the stricter protocols. Martin and Palm Beach follow the rest of the Florida Building Code.
How we run the job
Drawings first, dimensions from you, closeout that clears
We work general contractor side. Nothing is ordered before you stamp the shop drawings, and the approval documents arrive attached to the detail they belong to.

Takeoff and budget
Send the elevations and the glazing schedule. We price system, glass and labor as separate lines. Commercial bids go out from 48 hours.

Shop drawings
We draw the system and the anchor conditions in house, then wait for your stamp.

Approvals to the permit set
The FL number or the NOA goes to you attached to the drawing it belongs to.

Fabrication and supply
Framing, glass and hardware arrive as one package on the date the schedule needs.

Installation to your dimensions
We set to the openings as built and issued, not to the original drawing. Night and phased work when the space has to keep trading.

Waterproofing and closeout
Perimeter caulking before stucco, then warranty and approval documents.
Systems and hardware

We buy direct, so the system on the drawing is the system that arrives and warranty questions do not bounce between suppliers.

Impact storefronts, answered
How fast can you turn a bid around?
Commercial bids go out from 48 hours once we have the elevations and the glazing schedule. Residential estimates are same day. If a package is large or the drawings raise questions we will tell you the date we can hit rather than let it slip quietly.
Can I use shutters instead of impact glass on a storefront?
Code lets you protect a glazed opening either way. On a retail front, shutters mean somebody has to deploy them before every storm and the elevation reads closed while they are up. Impact glazing is installed once and never needs a decision at six in the morning.
What is the difference between a Florida Product Approval and a Miami-Dade NOA?
Both approve a tested assembly. The FL number is the statewide route. The Miami-Dade NOA is tested to the TAS protocols and is required inside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, which is Miami-Dade and Broward. An NOA is accepted anywhere in Florida.
Do you work inside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone?
Yes. Bal Harbour and Hallandale Beach are both HVHZ jurisdictions and both are finished jobs.
Can you install at night or in phases?
Yes. The Orlebar Brown storefront at Bal Harbour Shops went in at night so the mall kept trading. Phasing is a change order line, not an obstacle.
Do you supply and install, or install only?
Either. Most jobs are supply and install, which is where we can hold the schedule. If the system is already bought we will install to it, but we will want to see the approval first.
